Program’s Mission
A cornerstone of EWHC's mission is the UnAnswered Questions program, a groundbreaking initiative focused on addressing the critical issues surrounding Black maternal health. This program emphasizes the importance of culturally competent care, data-driven solutions, and community feedback in tackling maternal mortality, traumatic birthing experiences, and unmet needs among Black mothers and birthing individuals.
By fostering a feedback loop through digital platforms, EWHC ensures that the voices of Black women are heard, leading to the development of effective resources, policies, and training that resonate with the community's needs. Through this comprehensive approach, EWHC aims to not only bring about immediate improvements but also ensure the long-term sustainability of positive health outcomes for Black women and girls.

Populations Our Program Serves?
Zip codes in Mecklenburg County with high maternal mortality rates include areas such as 28205, 28206, 28208, 28216, and 28217. These areas face significant health disparities and would benefit from targeted interventions to improve maternal and child health outcomes.
Program’s Impact
Through a series of focus groups, workshops, panel discussions, and support groups, we will gather valuable stories and case studies from Black mothers and birthing individuals who have experienced traumatic birthing outcomes or challenging maternal journeys. This qualitative data will be leveraged to address unanswered questions, unmet needs, and disparities in Black maternal health. Our findings will inform the development of cultural competency training programs, future workshops, and surveys designed to improve care in clinics and hospitals. Additionally, we will implement a community-accessible feedback system through a digital platform, ensuring continuous engagement and real-time insights. These initiatives will create a measurable impact on reducing disparities and enhancing the maternal healthcare experience for Black women.
